LOCAL / 24 PLACES
Solar panel installers near you
Solar works across Great Britain, but output and local rules change from place to place. These pages cover 24 towns and cities in England, Scotland and Wales. Each one shows modelled yield, the grid operator and the planning authority.
If you are new to this, start with our guide to solar panel installation. It explains what a fitted system includes, because a quote only makes sense once you know the parts. Our guide to solar panel costs shows what homeowners typically pay.
When you are ready to compare firms, read how finding a solar installer works. Although we are not an installer, we can pass your enquiry on, but only with your consent.
How to read a town page
Each town page opens with a yield figure in kWh per kWp. That is the power one kilowatt of panels is modelled to make in a year on a south-facing roof at 35 degrees. For example, the lowest figure on this list is Glasgow at 853, and the highest is Brighton and Hove at 1,156.
The figures come from PVGIS, the European Commission's free solar tool, because it gives one fair basis for every town. We use its PVGIS-SARAH3 satellite database and its default 14% allowance for losses such as cables, inverters and dirt. Therefore the numbers are modelled estimates, not promises. Your own roof, shade and weather will move them up or down.
Each page also names the company that runs the local electricity network. Your installer must tell that company about a new system. In practice, the installer does the paperwork. However, it helps to know who is on the other end.
Planning rules matter too. England changed its rules for domestic solar in August 2026, while Scotland and Wales keep their own. Therefore each page points you to the council that decides, and we leave the final check to that council.
Finally, these pages are guides and not a quote. Because a survey of your home is the only way to get a firm figure, treat our numbers as a starting point. If you want help finding installers, the quote request form is there when you are ready.
